FACULTY OF MAJOR LANGUAGES
ISLAMIC SCIENCE UNIVERSITY OF MALAYSIA (USIM)
Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM), previously also known as KUIM, is the first Islamic Institution established by the Malaysian Government in the early 21st century. It is the 12th public university established in this country and was formerly registered under the name of Islamic University College of Malaysia (KUIM). It is established as a higher learning institution that is focused and specialised in the field of Islamic teaching and learning. Among the primary objectives of USIM is to uphold and enhance Islamic Studies in the local education field as well as to elevate the status of Islamic Studies to be acknowledged as one of the key players within the mainstream of the national education. As such, it strongly emphasises on the utilisation of information technology in its education system and research field. In addition to this, mastery of Arabic and English language has also become the focus of its education system.
The Education Program (Islamic Studies), which is currently placed under the Faculty of Major Languages, was initially introduced in Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) in the second semester of the 2007/2008 session. Under this program, two relevant courses - Diploma in Education (Islamic Studies) and Bachelor in Education (Islamic Studies) are offered.
