INTRODUCTION

Greetings from Faculty of Technical Education.

Faculty of Technical Education is one of the six faculties in University Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is and primarilythe center of knowledge in technical and vocational education. With that reputation, Faculty of Technical Education has been given a mandate to implement also special programs from Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Human Resource. Benefit from the expertise of its academicians, Faculty of Technical Education has also gained recognition globally through research and academic activities.

FACULTY OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Faculty of Technical Education started as The Department of Education and Humanities in 1996. UTHM was known as Institute Technology Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) at that time. In 2001, Department of Education and Humanities was separated into two departments, which were known as Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Center of Humanities and Communication. ITTHO was then been upgraded to the status of a university and was named Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KuiTTHO). Finally, on May 1 st 2004 Department of Technical and Vocational Education had been given a mandate to establish a faculty known as Faculty of Technical Education to accommodate future educators in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Like many other institutions, Faculty of Technical Education exists most importantly to give exposure to students on the theoretical and practical knowledge in the respective areas in the field of technical, vocational and engineering. Ethical conduct and attitude are also emphasized and being inculcate in the curriculum to assure the highest degree of professionalism acquired by the students. This faculty also extended its services by offering additional educational courses to other faculties in UTHM to enhance the professionalism of lecturers in the field of technical, vocational and engineering education. Faculty of Technical Education is very fortunate to have academic staffs from diverse technical and vocational background that are able to contribute their multi talented expertise in teaching, learning, research and consultancy.

In 2002, UNESCO-UNEVOC Bonn entrusted the Faculty of Technical Education to carry the role as UNESCO -UNEVOC Associate Center and ultimately in 2005, Faculty of Technical Education has become UNESCO-UNEVOC centre in Malaysia. Faculty of Technical Education does not stand alone in making reputation to its credentials. Collaborations and networking with international organizations such as Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO VOCTECH), Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education Philippines (CPSC), The National Centre for Career and Technical Education USA (NCCTE), European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) and others have been made as initiatives to upgrade the quality and credibility of technical and vocational education for the benefit of all.
